It is the fact that we are touching our phone all the time, and we have to ask ourselves a question “Can our phones or Cameras be carriers for Corona virus or other bacteria or germs”. The answer to this question is yes.

Many of the research you can find on the internet talk about that any cell phone or camera carries 10 times the amount of bacteria as the typical toilet seat. This fact leads to the conclusion that we definitely have to disinfect our phones and cameras.

I am just using soft microfiber cloth to wipe off my gear, it is very important that you don’t use towel or any kind of paper, because it’s going to crack the screen. This is especially important with iphones because it can destroy oleophobic coating protection.

Steps, how to properly clean our gear to kill viruses like Corona:

1.Make sure that your phone/camera is unplugged from all the external power sources that could damage it,

2. Use 70% isopropyl alcohol wipe or Clorox disinfecting wipes,

3. Don’t use and kind of bleach,

4. Avoid getting moisture and any openings and don’t submerge your phone/camera in any cleaning agents.

On the web site you can find the ingredients in pretty much every house hold product. The alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride that in the Clorox wipes is the same as the alkyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride in the Lysol wipes.

On the label of Lysol wipes you can read that it kills human corona virus in 2 minutes. Not instantly, we need to leave this on for 2 minutes. Also you can read “To disinfect, allow to remain wet for minutes”. Allow surface to air dry.

5. Take one wipe and wipe off the front and back of your gear and according to above mention label, make sure to stay wet 4 minutes.

6. If you have a case for your mobile or some protection for your camera, it is necessary to clean protection also.

7. Throw the wipe in the garbage.

Do not use for cleaning:

  • Window cleaners,
  • Household cleaners,
  • Rubbing alcohol,
  • Compressed air,
  • Aerosol sprays,

  • Abrasives,

There are also other ways to clean your gear like Phone Soap and it’s a Smart Phone UV Sanitizer. They say that you can’t wash your phone, but you can sanitize it with Phone Soap. This means that you can sanitize your gear with ultraviolet light.
